The resumed session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 5.2) and the UNEP 50th Anniversary Special Session were held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 21 February to 4 March 2022. Hosted at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, this landmark event marked a pivotal moment in global environmental diplomacy.
More than 1,000 in-person attendees — including ministers, government officials, youth leaders, civil society, and the international media — gathered to address outstanding agenda items and endorse a Ministerial Declaration focused on the Assembly’s theme. The event also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), established in 1972.
The hybrid format allowed global participation, with nearly 35 hours of live-streamed sessions viewed by a worldwide audience. Miltton Events played a key role in technical production, working in collaboration with UN technical teams and local partners to ensure seamless delivery and broadcast of the high-level event.
